Sweet Retreat

This past weekend I made a cake for a country boy and a city girl.  He must have won the coin toss because the reception was held at a barn in Abbotsford BC.  As I walked up the old wooden stairs to the hay loft, I was thinking this could be a disaster, but it was amazing! All the tables were elegantly decorated in their wedding colors of black and red. It looked very inviting it was just one of those relaxed settings and you could tell that the guests were going to have a good time. The wedding cake is a 4 tiered cake, the 3 bottom tiers are stacked and and the top tier is pillared, but instead of using the classic white roman styled pillars they chose shot glasses. The cake was finished with black ribbon and a piped pearl edge. They also requested to have a hand made fondant boot and stiletto for the topper. The flosist decorated it with some red roses.
