Sweet Retreat

This design of this wedding cake was originally from a box that the bride and groom bought to use on their wedding day on the gift table as a card box. It is robin's egg blue and chocolate brown, also their wedding colors. But in the final weeks of preperation for the wedding Katrina fell in love with a cake right out of the pages of Martha Stewart's wedding magazine. The new cake design was very modern and looked alot like a pattern from wrapping paper or wall paper. I loved it! They went with a rental wedding cake and an additional slab cake that was pre-cut and decorated to match the wedding cake. Both the top cake of the rental cake and the slab cake are vanilla cake with lemon zest filling and a lovely lemon italian style buttercream icing. The blue icing on the wedding cake is fondant icing and the chocolate brown is made from royal icing. The 3rd tier of the cake was made to look like a design on the card box, but yet still resembles the magazine cake picture. Their reception venue was at the Beach Grove Golf and Country Club in Tsawwassen BC.
