Sweet Retreat

Sweet Retreat was approached by a publisher from "In Touch" Magazine a few weeks ago about featuring a certain cake in an up coming issue. We were thrilled! One week later is was on the shelves of every store imaginable. The article read: "With so many stars heading to the altar, In Touch enlisted Randy Fenoli of TLC's Say Yes to the Dress*, and fashion director at Kleinfeld Manhattan, and style Network's celebrity wedding and event planner Donnie Brown, to help plan the big day for these brides-to-be." The royal scroll mad hatter wedding cake, that was custom created originally for our very own decorators wedding day, was chosen also for Karina Smirnoff whom is engaged to her Dancing with the Stars co-star Maksim Chmerkovskiy. It is the perfect cake to incorporate her sexy fairy-tale style and black and white theme. This topsey turvey design is 5 tiers and is white, black with hand painted edible 24 karat gold paint. The gold was used on the elaborate scroll detail that was first piped on with royal icing. The bottom tier was a flat tier in a different design than the rest of the cake, with white and gold diamond shapes on a black fondant back drop. This wedding cake is also adorned with a matching magical monogramed fondant crown to complete the look.
